Shawn David Compton embarked on his journey home July 7th at 9:08 pm. He was surrounded by the love of his family as he was set free from the body that had become a prison. At 50 years old he was too young to go and our chain will forever be broken.

Shawn was a multi-talented man with many gifts. He had a love and appreciation for music, art and was a self-taught musician and artist. He could play any instrument by ear, write lyrics/music and loved the bass most of all. His fondest memories are of the many years he spent playing in bands with his rock-n-roll brothers. He played until his health began to fail but could still pick up a guitar and lay it down when the mood struck him. He even inspired his nephews John-John, Keoni and Kalani to play guitar and love music. He was an excellent teacher, so patient and articulate.Shawn was a humble and intelligent man with a heart of gold. He loved his family and friends so dearly. He taught HVAC at Northwestern Tech for 8 years and loved his job. His faculty and students loved him back. His students affectionately nicknamed him Mr."Straight Outta" Compton and he thought it was great. He knew every word to that song just so he could rap it to his class. His sense of humor was ridiculous. He could make you laugh until you cried with his impression of Sling Blade or Bill Murray. God he was so funny! He had the funniest nicknames for all his friends and family as well. He loved to read about history and WW II. He could fix anything and did. He would also teach you how to fix it too whether you wanted to learn or not.

Shawn is playing his bass and bringing the funk to Heaven for sure. Beloved brother of Deborah (the late Jerry Rogowski) Compton, Johnnie (Paula) Compton, James (Margaret) Compton, Anthony Compton, Sherry (the late Jim) Attard, and Nichole (Scott) Sautter. Loving uncle to many nieces and nephews. Caring friend to all. He's reunited with his parents, Faye and John, his nephews Jimmy and Scotty Jr., his favorite brother-in-laws Jim and Jerry and the many friends that have gone before him. Shawn will be so missed and so loved until we meet again. There will be a celebration of Shawn's life in the near future. Date to be announced soon.
