It is important to seek help, after the death of a loved one. This may be as simple as having close friends and family to talk to, or renewing contact with people in your social circle. Even the company of a pet can provide valuable emotional support.

Everyone grieves in their own way, for their own length of time.

During the grieving process, it’s important to take care of yourself. Try to eat right, get adequate sleep, and avoid undue stress. Don’t be afraid to show your emotions or ask for support. It is common to feel shock, denial, anger, and depression, following a death. But if these feelings do not lessen over time, or cause extreme changes in behavior, professional therapy may be advised.

We at Voran Funeral Home can help.

We offer each of our families two free counseling sessions with Shirley Brogan. She is contracted with Maximum Living Consultants and works with our families. If you feel that you or someone you know needs help, please give us a call at (313) 928-2300. They specialize in helping you cope with death, dying and grief so that you can gain knowledge to work through your grief regardless of the circumstances.

We also offer grief support groups once a month to anyone who wishes to attend, whether they used Voran Funeral Home services or not. The support group provides each individual a safe, compassionate and supportive environment. They are held at the Allen Park location of the Voran Funeral Home across the street in the Educational Building just East of the Funeral Home on Allen Road, East of Southfield Road.
