Hastings, Charles "Chuck" Age 78 of Wyandotte, MI and Ormond Beach, FL
Died July 12, 2008. Chuck was born March 29th, 1930 in Detroit, MI and resided in Wyandotte until retiring to Ormond By the Sea, FL in 1982 with his surviving loving wife Marilyn of 57 years. Before retirement, Chuck was the owner of Northline Drugs and president of Prudential Wholesale Drugs in Michigan. He enjoyed boating, bowling and tennis with family and friends as a member of Wyandotte Yacht Club, Knights of Columbus Wyandotte and the Ormond Racquet Club. He is also survived by eight children and spouses, Lynn(Patrick), Chuck(Pam), Ileen(Jerry), Mike, Patrick(Michelle), Joan(Ed), Joe(Kristi) and Rita(Steve); eighteen grandchildren and eight great grandchildren. A memorial service will be held to celebrate Chuck's life at St. Patrick Catholic Church in Wyandotte on Monday, July 21st at 10 am. Robert Philip Gipner. 2-5-1924 to 7-9-2008
Passed away after a brave battle with Parkinson's disease. Beloved husband of Joyce for 51 years. Also survived by sons Garry, Blake and daughter Wendy (Domenic) Tucci, and grandchildren Nicole and Domenic Tucci, and Gordon Gipner.
Preceded in death by parents William and Ada Gipner, lifelong residents of Dearborn, and siblings, Blanche, Elizabeth, Laura, Barbara and William. Also, survived by sister-in-law Jean Chapman and Dorothy Gipner, along with numerous nieces and nephews.
Robert served in the U.S. Army during World War II stationed in England and was involved in the Battle of Normady, until his honorable discharge in 1945.
He retired from the Engineering Center in Dearborn Journeyman Model Maker. His father William also retired from Ford Motor in Dearborn after 30 years.
After Robert and Joyce both retired from Ford, they enjoyed many winters in Florida, cruises and trips. He always said he enjoyed a good life and had no regrets. Visitation Friday 7-11-08 from 5-9 at Voran Funeral Home (Taylor Chapel). Interment at Parkview Memorial Cemetery.
