Voran Now Serving Querfeld Families



William N. Querfeld retired and officially closed Querfeld Funeral Home on October 22, 2022. The Querfeld family have entrusted the future care of their families to the Voran Funeral Homes located in Dearborn, Allen Park and Taylor.

The Voran and Querfeld organizations share a strong commitment to the highest quality service, value and commitment to the community.

We are confident that the care given over the last almost 100 years by the Querfeld Funeral Home will continue with the Voran family.

Both of these family owned and operated organizations are well known for their commitment to service and Voran Funeral Home will continue to help those families in our community in their time of need.

The Querfeld family began their humble beginnings in Dearborn on a farm along the banks of the Rouge River. Louis and Katie Querfeld had five children, Morris, William G., Orvel, Pearl and Arthur. Like many farmers in the area, they traveled to Central Market in Detroit to sell their produce. The farm was eventually sold when Henry Ford visited and convinced Louis to sell him their property.  Two of the brothers, William G. “Bill” and Orvel, began an ambulance service in Wayne County. Their business morphed into the funeral industry in 1925. 

Their first funeral home was located in a home on Mason Street at Newman (West Village).  In 1936 the funeral home moved into a home on Monroe Street, north of the railroad tracks and south of Michigan Avenue. In 1952 a new funeral home was built at 1200 Oakwood Boulevard (bordered by Oakwood Blvd., Park St. and Monroe Street).  In 1956 William A. “Biff” joined his father and uncle in the funeral business as a licensed funeral director.  Later in 1984 his son, William N. “Bill” became a licensed funeral director. 

 

Providing funeral service over the years has been an honor and privilege.  It has been a difficult decision to close the funeral home; but when one door closes, another opens.  We will miss all the wonderful families we came to know over the years.  

 

Querfeld Funeral Home Inc., served Dearborn area families for 98 years, 1925-2022.

 

We were honored to be a part of the rich history of this community.
